Verizon Wireless starts selling its first Android phone, the Droid (“by Motorola”) today. I have tested the new phone, and I think that it’s awesome (for a smartphone). The Droid couples impressive hardware with the much-improved Android 2.0 OS, and the result is first Android phone that’s fully worthy of being compared to the iPhone 3GS and Palm’s Pre. (It’s most definitely an example of the class of device that Walt Mossberg calls “super-smart phones.”) Read more »

The midnight release is the first official launch in the country, but there have been numerous reports that those who have visited Best Buy and Wal-Mart stores purchased the phones ahead of the official release date. Walmart Super Center stores are also typically opening sales at midnight, though the next earliest opportunity will involve the 7AM and 8AM openings at some non-mall Verizon stores. Read more »

Picking up that Old Navy gift card for your little sister could pay off this Black Friday, when the clothing retailer will be giving away free copies of LEGO Rock Band with every $20 purchase.
Old Navy isn’t known for its video game deals, but they’ll be handing out copies of LEGO Rock Band on Black Friday nonetheless, along with free guitar controllers with any purchase of Rock Band 2. It’s all part of the Black Friday event the chain is calling Gobblepalooza, with “3 days of rockin’ deals” for fans of Harmonix music games and affordable yet fashionable clothing for adults and teens.
It’s a bizarre little promotion, really. So odd that you might actually have a chance of scoring a copy on Black Friday, if you can avoid being trampled. Old Navy is a scary place on Black Friday.

A random regular person thinks that they designed Windows 7 when we all really know it was us nerds that posted every little Vista flaw on message boards and blogs. Ford just announced the inflatable seatbelt, intended to protect passengers seated in the back of the vehicle, where they are more vulnerable to head, chest, and neck injuries. How long will it be before our vehicles are filled with SecureFoam, filling our vehicles whenever we crash.
The new seatbelts will be available starting next year, debuting in the 2010 Ford Explorer. Ford has stated that they intend on offering the new seatbelts on all of their cars worldwide in the future. The new seatbelts are considered to be much safer then the current technology, and more comfortable. Ford hopes that the new design will help to increase the usage of rear belts.
